There was also a fatality on Silvester night in Geseke, in the district of Soest, North Rhine-Westphalia. A 24-year-old man died in the explosion of a firework component. According to initial findings, a group of partygoers had moved to the western field area of Geseke to set off fireworks, which then led to the accident. As the other people were at a sufficient distance from the person who triggered the explosion, no one else was injured.

On Silvester night, severe injuries due to firecrackers occur again and again, and the emergency rooms are in high demand around the New Year.
