Ukraine Confronts Widespread Russian Aerial Attack
In a late-night assault, Ukraine reported being bombarded by a massive Russian aerial campaign, with the country’s president, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, revealing that Russia deployed 477 drones, primarily Russian-Iranian Shahed and 60 missiles of various types.
According to Zelenskyy, the attack resulted in at least one civilian residence being hit in Smila, leaving a child injured. Ukrainian authorities also claimed that a F-16 pilot lost his life in the defense of the attack, having previously destroyed seven aerial targets before his own demise. Zelenskyy has ordered an investigation into the pilot’s death.
Reiterating his demands to strengthen Ukraine’s air defense and impose harsher sanctions on Russia, Zelenskyy emphasized the need to bring an end to the war, exert pressure on the aggressor and provide necessary protection for the country.
