According to a recent survey conducted by the Institute Insa, a significant majority of Germans would be willing to continue working after reaching the legal retirement age if the government were to introduce the “Active Pension” plan.

The survey, which was published in the Thursday edition of the Bild newspaper, found that 45 percent of respondents would work beyond the legal retirement age if the plan were to be implemented. In contrast, 38 percent of those polled expressed opposition to the idea, while 17 percent declined to answer.

The majority of Germans, at 73 percent, welcome the introduction of the “Active Pension” plan, which would allow employees to earn an additional 2,000 euros per month, tax-free, after reaching the legal retirement age. On the other hand, 17 percent of respondents view the plan unfavorably, with 10 percent declining to comment.

The survey, which was conducted from June 6 to 10, 2025, polled a total of 1,002 eligible voters.
