4-1 Thrashing Secures Top Chaser Status!

Bayer 04 Leverkusen secured their position as the top pursuer of Bayern with a 4-1 away win against Eintracht Frankfurt in the 24th Bundesliga matchday’s Saturday evening game. Although the gap to the leaders remains eight points, Eintracht Frankfurt is still eight points behind Leverkusen and now nine points adrift of the top three.

Frankfurt started the game with motivation, but Leverkusen showed its class from the beginning, dominating the game and allowing the hosts few chances. Nathan Tella scored the opening goal for the visitors in the 26th minute and Nordi Mukiele doubled the lead three minutes later with a header after a corner kick by Florian Wirtz.

Frankfurt was shocked and Leverkusen capitalized on the uncertainty, scoring a third goal in the 33rd minute through Patrik Schick, who was perfectly set up by Jeremie Frimpong. Eintracht Frankfurt tried to respond quickly and in the 37th minute, Hugo Ekitike scored a consolation goal by beating the goalkeeper from close range. However, the goal proved to be a mere consolation, as Leverkusen continued to control the game.

After the halftime break, Eintracht Frankfurt only managed to build some pressure briefly, but Leverkusen remained composed and allowed few chances. Aleix Garcia sealed the win with a precise long-range shot in the 62nd minute, making the 4-1 score the final result. Leverkusen then took a clear lead, with the important players being substituted off as the Champions League clash against Bayern is just around the corner. Frankfurt, on the other hand, saw their opponents disappear from the scene.
