2.2 Percent in April

Inflation in the Eurozone remains stable at 2.2 percent in April 2025

The annual inflation rate in the Eurozone remained stable in April 2025, at 2.2 percent, the same as in March, according to the European Union’s statistical agency, Eurostat. Prices increased by 0.6 percent compared to the previous month.

The “core inflation” which excludes energy, food, alcohol and tobacco prices, was estimated at 2.7 percent in April, higher than in the previous month (2.4 percent). This “core rate” is of particular interest to the European Central Bank (ECB) in relation to its goal of achieving a 2 percent inflation rate.

In terms of the main components of inflation in the Eurozone, “services” are expected to show the highest annual rate in April (3.9 percent, up from 3.5 percent in March), followed by “food, alcohol and tobacco” (3.0 percent, up from 2.9 percent in March), “industrial goods excluding energy” (0.6 percent, unchanged from March) and “energy” (-3.5 percent, down from -1.0 percent in March).

According to Eurostat, Estonia has the highest inflation rate at 4.4 percent, followed by Latvia and the Netherlands at 4.1 percent each. In France, the rate is reported to be only 0.8 percent. Eurostat calculates the inflation rate for Germany at 2.2 percent, using a different method than the German Federal Statistical Office, which reported a 2.1 percent inflation rate on Wednesday.
