Liverpool Secures Midfielder Florian Wirtz in a Long-Term Deal from Leverkusen

German international midfielder Florian Wirtz has left Bayer 04 Leverkusen after five and a half years to join FC Liverpool, the club announced on Friday evening. Wirtz has signed a long-term contract with the Reds, according to Leverkusen.

The 21-year-old’s development at Leverkusen was praised by the club’s managing director, Fernando Carro, who said, “Florian Wirtz has developed from a promising talent to a top-class footballer. We are very proud of the path he has taken with Bayer 04.”

Wirtz expressed his gratitude, stating, “It’s not easy to leave after five and a half great years. I’ve experienced something unique and enjoyed incredible moments here in Leverkusen. The club has always supported me, even in the tough times of my injury and believed in me.”

Details of the transfer fee have not been disclosed, but Sky Sports reported that Liverpool is set to pay a fixed fee of around 130 to 135 million euros for the German midfielder, with the total package potentially reaching up to 150 million euros, including possible bonuses.
