Berlin, Germany – A 13-year-old boy, suspected of severely injuring a 12-year-old classmate with a kitchen knife in Berlin-Wilhelmstadt, was apprehended in Spandau on Friday afternoon, according to the police.
Following a tip-off from the public, civilian informants discovered the young suspect at the Spandau U-Bahn station around 2 pm. He was then taken to the police station and subsequently transferred to a child and adolescent psychiatric institution. The boy’s parents were informed of the development.
The 12-year-old victim, who was attacked on the school premises in Daberkowstraße on Thursday morning, underwent emergency surgery and is now reported to be in a stable condition.
The 6th Homicide Unit of the Berlin State Criminal Office is leading the investigation, as there are indications of a attempted murder. The alleged crime took place in a school changing room, after which the suspect fled the scene. Due to the boy’s age, he cannot be prosecuted under criminal law.
