12% Slump in a Year!

Audi, the German automaker, reported a global decline of 12 percent in vehicle deliveries last year, according to a report by the Deutschlandfunk on Monday. This translates to a reduction of approximately 200,000 vehicles, bringing the total to around 1.67 million. The impact was particularly felt in the home market of Germany, where the end of government incentives for electric vehicle sales contributed to a decline in demand. The weakness in demand is not limited to Germany, as all major markets were affected. The company’s electric mobility segment also saw a decline.

Audi attributed the decline to the economic framework, intense competition, and limited availability of parts. In Germany, the decline was particularly pronounced, at 21 percent, with North America and China also experiencing a decline of 13 and an unspecified percentage, respectively.

BMW, a rival automaker, also reported a decline in sales, with a global reduction of around four percent, resulting in 2.45 million vehicles delivered. The Chinese market was particularly subdued, according to the report.
