1. FC Heidenheim Clinches Victory, Bochum and Kiel Face Relegation

In the 33rd match of the 1st German Football Bundesliga, 1. FC Union Berlin lost 0:3 against 1. FC Heidenheim at the Alten Försterei. Heidenheim can no longer be relegated directly. VfL Bochum and Holstein Kiel, on the other hand, are leaving the 1st league with losses.

Heidenheim took an early lead in the 12th minute with a beautiful combination: Schöppner was sent into the penalty area, passed back to Pieringer and Beck decisively shot into the net with a strong finish.

The Köpenicker team had their first chance to score in the 19th minute, but Trimmel’s powerful shot was stopped by Feller with a strong save in the short corner.

Nevertheless, the guest team focused on a stable defense and didn’t allow much, but they were still not the certain winner despite their slim lead at halftime.

After the restart, Schöppner then calmed the nerves of the guests: In the 56th minute, Pieringer passed a long ball from Feller to the striker with a header, who outmaneuvered Vogt and stayed alone in front of the net coolly.

The Baumgart team tried to correct the score in the following minutes, but the well-organized defense of the Southerners kept their net clean.

Instead, Beck made the game 3:0 for Heidenheim in the 73rd minute: The striker was served by Wanner from the outside, outmuscled Preu and shot the ball past Doekhi from the left side. Almost a double in the 78th minute, but Rönnow still managed to intercept Pieringer’s failed attempt on the line. In the end, the highly effective guests celebrated a 3:0 victory.

With the win, Heidenheim can at least no longer be relegated directly from the 1st Bundesliga. Holstein Kiel and VfL Bochum, on the other hand, are sure to be directly relegated after their losses against Freiburg and Mainz. For Union Berlin on place 13, the result has no real significance.
