The President of the Federal Council, Saarland’s Minister-President Anke Rehlinger (SPD), will travel to Paris and Warsaw at the invitation of France and Poland at the end of January. Rehlinger will stay in Paris on January 22, 2025, and then travel directly to Warsaw on January 23, where she will spend two days attending to her schedule, as reported by the “Tagesspiegel” (Tuesday edition).
According to the report, Rehlinger is invited to Paris by the French Senate President Gérard Larcher. In Paris, the Federal Council President will attend the reception marking the German-French Day, to which the German Ambassador Stephan Steinlein has invited.
“‘The German-French relationship is in my blood as a Saarlander, and as Federal Council President, I would like to send a signal with this trip to strengthen the Weimar Triangle,'” said Rehlinger to the “Tagesspiegel”.
The Social Democrat has been the German-French Cultural Ambassador since 2023. In Poland, Rehlinger plans to meet with the President of the Polish Senate, Malgorzata Kidawa-Blonska, and lay a wreath at the Warsaw Unknown Soldier’s Grave.
