Shocking Revelation: Germany's Bureaucracy is About to Get a Radical Makeover!

The Chairman of the Norm Control Council, Lutz Goebel, demands a “radical rethink” on the topic of bureaucracy from politics and citizens. “The country is in a deplorable state” Goebel told the news portal T-Online. If things continue as they have in the past, “it will lead to a massive loss of wealth, as the economy will no longer grow” the bureaucracy expert said.

Goebel also warned of a reform of the state: “Without a cultural change in legislation and a state reform, it won’t work. This concerns not only politics, but also every single citizen.” Goebel criticized the German desire for “everything to be one hundred percent fair.” From this and the idea that all eventualities could be regulated, Germans must bid farewell, Goebel said.

For the Norm Control Council, which has been advising the federal government on avoiding unnecessary bureaucracy and its reduction since 2006, Goebel demands more “influence possibilities”: “We need above all a suspensive veto right for new laws: If the benefit of a law is not significantly greater than its costs, then we should be able to say definitively: This must be reworked.” This should also apply “to poorly made laws, so that the ministries then have to rework them in a binding manner” Goebel said.
