Minister of Economic Affairs Robert Habeck (Greens) has proposed to the Federal Chancellor to reappoint Monika Schnitzer, the chair of the Council of Economic Experts, as a member of the group of economic advisors. The Federal Cabinet decided on Wednesday to recommend Schnitzer’s reappointment to the President, the Ministry announced.
Schnitzer is set to be reappointed for a term until February 28, 2030. She first joined the Council of Economic Experts in 2020 and has been its chair since 2022, with her current term ending in February 2025.
Habeck described Schnitzer as a “widely recognized voice in the economic policy debate, transcending party lines.” He is convinced that Schnitzer, with her research focus on innovation and competition policy, will further strengthen the Council of Economic Experts with her expertise.
