Economist Veronika Grimm generally finds proposals for a reform of the income tax good, but emphasizes the need for a comprehensive tax reform. “A reform of the income tax would be a contribution to making Germany competitive again” Grimm told the “Redaktionsnetzwerk Deutschland”.
She finds the idea of introducing the top tax rate later a good one. A similar proposal comes from the Union, while the SPD wants to relieve 95% of taxpayers and more heavily burden the top 1%.
Grimm, however, demands better framework conditions for the economy: “However, it must be part of a larger tax reform” the economist added. “Because currently, many companies are relocating their production abroad, which is not a good development. Here, one should counteract by improving the framework conditions.
