Economist Veronika Grimm finds proposals for a reform of the income tax generally good, but emphasizes the need for a comprehensive tax reform. “A reform of the income tax would be a contribution to make Germany competitive again” Grimm said to the “Redaktionsnetzwerk Deutschland”.
Delaying the top tax rate would be a good idea, a proposal coming from the Union, while the SPD wants to relieve 95 percent of taxpayers and burden the top one percent more heavily.
However, Grimm demanded better framework conditions for the economy: “It must, however, be part of a larger tax reform” the economist added. “Because currently, many companies are relocating their production abroad, which is not a good development. Here, one should counteract by improving the framework conditions.
