Linken Chief Jan van Aken has sharply criticized the Left’s alliance with Sahra Wagenknecht’s party (BSW) for its migration policy. “Take their posters on migration, look at them and you’ll see what a racist bunch they’ve become” he told the Watson news portal.
Van Aken also strongly criticized the BSW’s foreign policy: “My focus is on the people in Ukraine. They should be able to decide for themselves what’s right for them” he said. “Sahra Wagenknecht, on the other hand, takes the Kremlin’s perspective. The people in Ukraine are of no concern to her.”
According to van Aken, the Left is a better party without Wagenknecht. “Many incomprehensible and harmful decisions came from those who are now with the BSW” he added.
The party chairman also made a new housing policy demand for the Bundestag election campaign. Landlords should no longer be able to refuse a home exchange, he said. “For example, if a family has just moved out and their four-room apartment is now too big, they would probably not move out anyway, as they still have a 20-year-old tenancy agreement” explained van Aken.
At the same time, young people who move to the city and want to start a family or share an apartment could not afford a large apartment. “If we make it possible for landlords not to object to the parties simply exchanging their tenancy agreements and the rents remaining the same, that would be a huge relief” explained van Aken his concept.
The party chairman expressed confidence about the Bundestag election. “The thought of not reaching the five percent threshold is forbidden among us” he said. He expects the party to reach the five percent threshold and three direct mandates in the election.
