Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke with the incoming US President Donald Trump on Saturday evening about Syria. “I said we would change the face of the Middle East, and we are doing so. Syria is no longer the same Syria, Lebanon is no longer the same Lebanon, and Gaza is no longer the same Gaza” the Prime Minister said on Sunday evening.
The “head of the axis” Iran, is no longer the same, “and it has felt the power of our arm” he added.
Despite the challenges, “and that refers to Iran and its bloody proxies, as well as to other potential threats, because reality is dynamic – it changes quickly” the Likud politician argued.
“We have no interest in a conflict with Syria. We will adjust the Israeli policy towards Syria according to the reality on the ground” the Prime Minister emphasized. Syria has been “a hostile state” against Israel for decades.
“To ensure that something like this does not happen again, we have taken a series of intense measures in the last few days. Along with Defense Minister Katz, I have instructed the IDF to thwart and prevent the potential threats from Syria and to prevent terrorist elements from taking control near our border” Netanyahu said.
Over the course of several days, the supply routes of the Hezbollah through Syria have been disrupted, and “we are determined to prevent the rearming of Hezbollah” Netanyahu said.
“I declare to Hezbollah and Iran unmistakably: in order to prevent them from attacking us, we will continue to act against them, if necessary, and in all areas and at all times” Netanyahu said.
