The future Ukraine representative at the United Nations, Andriy Melnyk, has confirmed his demand for additional billion-euro aid from Germany. “It’s not about charity for Christmas, as some might describe it. It’s about an investment in Germany’s own security” he told the RTL/ntv editorial team.
It’s about the war threat remaining acute for Germany, for Europe, even after the end of the war against Ukraine. We must ensure deterrence functions. Melnyk had demanded aid of at least 20 billion euros per year for the next four years.
