Health Ministry's Mysterious Covid-19 Shot Shortage!

The Federal Ministry of Health has provided practices and pharmacies with more than eight million doses of COVID-19 vaccine this fall and winter. Initially, a vaccine adapted to the JN.1 variant was delivered, and since mid-November, a vaccine adapted to the KP.2 variant has also been delivered.

The federal government received around six million doses of the first vaccine from the manufacturer Biontech/Pfizer, of which around 5.4 million were delivered to the pharmaceutical wholesale trade, a ministry spokesperson told the Funke Media Group newspapers (Friday editions). The federal government received a total of around 8.2 million doses of the second vaccine, of which around 2.6 million have been delivered to the wholesale trade so far.

Additionally, the adapted COVID-19 vaccine of the manufacturer Novavax, targeting the JN.1 variant, has been available for ordering since mid-December. Around 43,000 doses of this vaccine have been delivered to the pharmaceutical wholesale trade so far, the spokesperson said.
