Saxony-Anhalt’s Minister-President Reiner Haseloff (CDU) has announced a federal initiative to improve the networking of security authorities after the Christmas market attack in Magdeburg.
“Already now, it can be said: The data and information exchange between the authorities must be improved” he said in his New Year’s speech, which is broadcast by MDR on Wednesday evening. Saxony-Anhalt will introduce a bill in the Federal Council to achieve this. The security authorities must be allowed to network more strongly.
The CDU politician also warned against attempts to make political capital out of the attack. “We must not let ourselves be driven apart” he said. “Only together can we shape the togetherness of our society in a peaceful and future-oriented way.” From this, one can gain strength and confidence for the future.
