The personnel planning of companies will become more restrictive. The Ifo Employment Barometer sank to 92.4 points in December, after 93.3 points in November.
“Fewer and fewer companies are building up personnel” said Klaus Wohlrabe, head of Ifo Surveys. “Instead, the share of companies that want to reduce jobs is increasing.”
Especially in the industry, the economic crisis leaves its mark on personnel planning. Almost all branches are considering job cuts. The metal industry and the car manufacturers and their suppliers are the most affected. Even the retail sector plans to reduce jobs more often than to fill new ones.
At the service providers, the negative dynamics of the past months continued. While the tourism industry is cutting back, the personnel service providers and the hospitality industry are reducing jobs more often. In the construction industry, no major wave of layoffs is in sight: the companies are trying to hold on to their personnel.
