Germany's Shame: Minister Demands Deportation Without a Care

Pro Asyl, a refugee rights organization, has sharply criticized the CDU’s general secretary Carsten Linnemann’s demands to toughen up the right of residence. “The CDU is launching the election campaign with unprincipled and populist deportation demands” said Wiebke Judith, the right-political spokesperson of Pro Asyl, to the “Redaktionsnetzwerk Deutschland” (Tuesday editions).

Linnemann had advocated for asylum seekers who are twice convicted of crimes to lose their right of residence and be deported from Germany, not just for serious crimes.

“Such demands may fit on election posters, but do not stand up to legal scrutiny” said Wiebke Judith. “Especially when it comes to deportations to states where torture or inhumane living conditions threaten, international law clearly stands in the way” she confirmed.
