CDU Secretary General Carsten Linnemann will make the proposed tightening of the deportation right for criminalized refugees a condition for a coalition after the federal election.
Linnemann told the TV channel “Welt” on Monday that Article 45 of the Residence Act should be changed so that the residence permit expires “after a second offense in a smaller area.” The CDU Secretary General continued, “This change will not only find an echo in our election program but will also be included in a coalition agreement.”
Anyone who wants to govern with the Union must be clear that “if someone comes to Germany and commits crimes, they have no right to stay in Germany.” He also said, “I think this can be a condition to be set.”
For him, it’s a question of common sense: “People come to us who flee, and they have no right to behave improperly here.” This includes, in his opinion, already two crimes like theft or fare evasion. He dismissed the hint that this demand would be difficult to implement with the SPD and the Greens, saying, “That doesn’t interest me yet.” The Union must also set conditions.
“Someone who comes to Germany has forfeited their guest right if they think they can do what they want here. You have to hold to rules and laws. This also applies to smaller crimes.” According to his conviction, a “warning shot” is needed from the courts, but after the second offense, one must leave Germany. Thefts, assaults, threats, and drug offenses should count in the future.
