Germany's CDU to Deport Criminal Asylum Seekers After Two Crimes

CDU to take a harder stance on criminal asylum seekers after a win.

“It’s unbearable that there are people who are multiple times convicted, yet this has no impact on whether they can leave the country or not” said CDU General Secretary Carsten Linnemann to Bild: “After a warning shot, the right to stay must compulsorily expire after the second intentional offense in the future.”

According to Linnemann, the intentional offenses that lead to expulsion will also include crimes such as theft and break-in. Concretely, Linnemann wants to change paragraphs 53 and 54 of the Residence Act, so that there will be no room for discretion for administrative judges. “In the future, it must be clear: anyone who commits crimes here has forfeited their right to hospitality and must leave the country. The current regulation, which grants administrative judges a degree of discretion, will be changed” said Linnemann to Bild.

“Anyone who is sentenced to imprisonment, regardless of the length or whether it’s on probation, must compulsorily lose their right to stay in the future.” Linnemann announced that also the expulsions of asylum seekers without a residence permit must become “more consistent and faster in the future.” Moreover, more deportation agreements with other countries must be made, in order to expel the offenders, “if necessary even to third countries.
