Germans Prioritize Economic Growth Over All

Economic situation in Germany becomes more important for Germans. It is one of the most important topics (rank 4) that politics must address in 2025, according to the “year-end survey” of the opinion research institute Insa for the “Bild am Sonntag”.

Accordingly, 50 percent of the respondents say that the government should focus more on the economy. This is five percentage points more than in the previous year. As a result, it is the topic that has gained the most in importance compared to the previous year.

However, the most important topic remains, as in the previous years, the topic of inflation. 56 percent of the respondents (-1 compared to the previous year) demand that the government stop inflation. In second place is the securing of the pension with 54 percent (-1), and in third place is the creation of affordable housing with 51 percent (-4).

Securing the energy supply loses a bit of importance (48 percent, -2), but remains at fifth place. Migration control (47 percent, -4) has lost importance, but remains at sixth place, one of the top topics of the Germans. The support of Ukraine has become more important for the respondents compared to the previous year (19 percent, +4), but overall, it remains one of the less important topics.

The least important of the 20 mentioned topics for the respondents was the promotion of electric mobility (eleven percent, +1). Insa surveyed a total of 1,004 people for the “Bild am Sonntag” between December 18 and 19, 2024.
