Explosive Revelations to Erupt in Special Committee Meeting!

The Interior Committee of the German Bundestag is expected to hold a special meeting by the end of the year in response to the Magdeburg attack, according to the Bild newspaper, citing coalition sources.

At the same time, the Parliamentary Control Committee, which is responsible for monitoring the federal intelligence services, is also scheduled to meet. Both sessions are being prepared for December 30, prior to which the Union faction had demanded a special meeting of the Interior Committee.

The deputy SPD faction leader, Dirk Wiese, told the Bild newspaper (Monday edition): “Two days after the heinous act, more and more details about the perpetrator are coming to light, which do not fit the X pattern, but instead raise questions for the security authorities in the federal government and in Saxony-Anhalt. The situation is more complex than initially suspected and instrumentalized by the right-wing.”

He added: “That’s why it’s essential to wait for the results of the investigations in the next few days. The Parliamentary Control Committee and the Interior Committee of the German Bundestag should then convene between the sessions.” Besides Federal Interior Minister Nancy Faeser (SPD), the presidents of the Federal Intelligence Service, the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution, and the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF) are to be summoned, as well as the responsible State Interior Minister, Tamara Zieschang from Saxony-Anhalt, according to Wiese.
