Dozens of people have lost their lives in a plane crash in South Korea. Reports have mentioned up to 47 fatalities, but the numbers are likely to rise further. At least two people are believed to have been rescued.
The ill-fated aircraft is a Boeing 737-800 of Jeju Air, which was carrying 175 passengers and six crew members on board. It took off from Bangkok in Thailand and made a crash landing at Muan International Airport in South Korea around 9 a.m. local time (1 a.m. German time) on Sunday morning.
According to initial information, the accident was likely caused by a faulty landing gear, which may have caused the plane to deviate from the runway.
