Bochum’s first Sunday game of the 15th Bundesliga matchday ended with a 2-0 win in the basement duel against Heidenheim’s 1 FC. It was the first win of the season for the bottom of the table team.
The home team was the better side from the start and took the lead after just six minutes through a goal by Moritz Broschinski. The visitors, who had a European conference league match a few days earlier, only managed to create little after that. Instead, Matus Bero scored for Bochum in the 38th minute.
There was no change in momentum after the halftime break, and Bochum continued to push forward, missing several chances. Heidenheim, on the other hand, remained clueless. Even though a third Bochum goal by Lukas Daschner in the 89th minute was disallowed due to offside, the home team ultimately let nothing more slip away.
In the table, Heidenheim remains stuck on the 16th place with 10 points, while Bochum has four points less on the table. After the winter break on January 11, Bochum will travel to Mainz, and Heidenheim will face Union Berlin on the same day.
