Seven members of the Left Alliance with Sahra Wagenknecht (BSW) attempted over the weekend to found a state association in Hamburg without the knowledge of the federal board. They call it “Alliance for Reason and Justice”, according to the news portal “T-Online”. The group has also directly nominated a candidate for the Bundestag election and registered him with the Hamburg state election authority on Tuesday.
The federal board of the BSW had actually invited members to the first state party conference in Hamburg for the previous Sunday. The date was then changed at short notice by the federal executive director Lukas Schön because the landlord of the premises had terminated the lease. Dejan Lazic, a BSW member from Hamburg, according to the report, together with his party friend Norbert Weber, searched for an alternative room and led the members there, where they then tried to found the new state association.
The federal board will not recognize the state association. “This is a non-binding process that was not agreed with the party board and contradicts our bylaws” the federal board stated in response to a request. “The founding of the state association will take place on the coming Saturday, as decided by the party board, with the inclusion of all members – as our bylaws provide.”
Dejan Lazic said that the founding meeting was moved by the board member Lukas Schön in a legally and bylaws-inconsistent manner to December 21. “The federal board therefore has to take responsibility for the fact that not all members were present at the founding meeting due to the chaos” Lazic said.
