Sahra Wagenknecht’s Alliance (BSW) is set to get a new party name after the federal election, and will no longer be named after its founder, Sahra Wagenknecht. “I won’t be in politics for another 30 years, but the BSW should remain a political factor in Germany for decades to come” Wagenknecht told the Welt (Monday’s edition).
Within the party, a process will be initiated to find a new name. “The BSW abbreviation should remain” Wagenknecht said, leaving the rest to the party. “Our members and sympathizers have many good ideas for how we can rebrand ourselves.”
This renaming had been announced by the BSW at the time of its founding.
Before the renaming, the party plans to make more of its personalities known. This is something the party is planning for the time after the federal election. “We have many more heads that will become more visible when we have a stronger faction in the Bundestag” said Wagenknecht.
