The voter sentiment, measured by Forsa, has recently declined slightly for the Union. In the weekly survey of the opinion research institute, published on Monday, CDU and CSU gained a point and reached 31 percent.
The Left (4 percent) also improved by one percentage point, while the SPD (16 percent) and the FDP (3 percent) each lost a point. The values for the Greens (13 percent), the AfD (19 percent), and the BSW (4 percent) remained unchanged. The share of non-voters and undecided voters is at 25 percent, above the 23.4 percent of non-voters in the last federal election.
After the failed confidence vote in the Bundestag, Olaf Scholz (SPD) lost some of his backing, while Friedrich Merz (CDU) slightly improved. If they could vote directly for the Chancellor, according to Forsa, in the week before Christmas, 28 percent would have chosen Merz (+2) and 24 percent (-2) Scholz. Unchanged, 48 percent do not wish for either Scholz or Merz in the Chancellor’s office.
In total, 2,008 people were surveyed from December 17 to 20. The Magdeburg Christmas market shooting, which took place after the end of the survey, did not have an impact on the data.
