The Union faction will not negotiate with the SPD and Greens in the Bundestag on joint legislative decisions after the vote of confidence in Olaf Scholz. “Olaf Scholz had three years and has failed miserably with his coalition” said CDU/CSU parliamentary business manager Thorsten Frei to the “Redaktionsnetzwerk Deutschland” (Monday editions).
“We have not secured majorities for draft bills bearing a clear red-green signature in the last eight weeks of the legislature” Frei emphasized, adding that the Union aimed to “bring about a policy change” on February 23. “We will therefore not engage in large negotiations after the vote of confidence, but will only discuss with the red-green coalition on urgent and essential bills” he said to the RND.
Frei mentioned the law to protect the Federal Constitutional Court from political influences as an exception, stating, “This is settled and will come” he said.
