Rapper Casper reaches number one on the German album charts with his album “Live in Bielefeld”. The GfK announced this on Friday.
Casper recorded the album in front of 28,000 fans at the Alm in Bielefeld in June, and it is his seventh number one album. In the week before Christmas, the US rockers Linkin Park (“From Zero”, two) and the K-Pop band Stray Kids (“Hop”, three) follow at a distance. Taylor Swift’s “The Tortured Poets Department” holds the fourth position, and the debut of Snoop Dogg & Dr. Dre (“Missionary”, seven) and the synth-pop cult band Camouflage (“Rewind To The Future And Goodbye”, eight) in the top 10 is notable. Helloween (“Live At Budokan (Live)”, 14) and Grobschnitt (“Solar Music – Live”, 17) also perform well.
In the single charts, a small surprise occurs: Wham!’s (“Last Christmas”) overthrows Mariah Carey (“All I Want For Christmas Is You”) for the first time in two years, likely due to a limited re-release for the 40th anniversary.
Already, 52 Christmas songs occupy the top 100. Lacazette (“Wer”, 60), Lola Young (“Messy”, 68), and Nina Chuba (“Waldbrand”, 73) are the highest new entries in the lower half.
The official German charts are determined by GfK Entertainment on behalf of the German Music Industry Association (BVMI). They cover about 90% of all music sales. The basis of the hit lists are the sales or usage data from around 2,600 retailers/stores of all sales channels, including the stationary trade, e-commerce providers, download portals, and streaming platforms.
