The 1. FC Nürnberg secured a 1-0 win over Eintracht Braunschweig in the 17th round of the 2. Bundesliga, with a home crowd cheering them on.
The Franken had a tough time breaking through, with most of their chances coming close but not quite on target. In the 14th minute, Castrop narrowly missed a Jander pass, and in the 40th, Tzimas came close with a shot that just missed the left post.
Justvan’s shot in the 44th minute was also denied by the goalkeeper, and the game went into halftime with a fortunate score for the visitors.
The game changed in the second half, with Justvan setting up Tzimas in the 49th minute, and the Greek player scored from a few meters out.
Braunschweig was then forced to play in a man-down situation after Conteh’s second yellow card in the 59th minute, but the FCN did not capitalize on the advantage.
The Scherning-Elf seemed to run out of steam, and the visitors showed more initiative in the final 10 minutes.
In the 89th minute, Pick had a chance to seal the win, but was denied by the goalkeeper once again. The narrow lead proved to be enough for Nürnberg, who climbed to 11th place, while Braunschweig remained stuck in 17th.
