US stock markets declined on Tuesday. At the close of trading in New York, the Dow was calculated at 44,247.83 points, a minus of 0.35% compared to the previous trading day.
Just minutes earlier, the broader S&P 500 was around 6,030 points, down 0.3%, and the technology-based Nasdaq calculated the Nasdaq 100 at around 21,365 points, down 0.3%.
Market observers say that investors, after the euphoria of the past weeks, are waiting for fresh impulses and, in anticipation of these, are being cautious and tend to pull back at a high price level.
The European common currency was weaker on Tuesday evening: one euro cost 1.0526 US dollars, and one dollar was worth 0.9500 euros.
Gold could profit significantly, with 2,692 US dollars paid for one fine ounce (+1.1%) in the evening, which corresponds to a price of 82.22 euros per gram.
Oil prices, on the other hand, sank: a barrel of North Sea Brent cost around 22:00 German time on Tuesday evening at 71.98 US dollars, 16 cents or 0.2% less than at the close of the previous trading day.
