McLaren pilot Lando Norris has won the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix and secured the constructors’ world championship for his team. He crossed the finish line on Sunday ahead of the two Ferrari drivers, Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc.
McLaren had a 21-point lead over Ferrari before the race and Norris and his teammate, Oscar Piastri, started from the top two positions. However, a collision between Piastri and the already settled world champion, Max Verstappen of Red Bull, shortly after the start, saw Piastri relegated to the back of the field. Despite this, Norris’ dominant performance at the front ensured the title was never in doubt.
The points table behind the podium featured Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes), George Russell (Mercedes), Verstappen, Pierre Gasly (Alpine), and the only German driver, Nico Hülkenberg (Haas). Fernando Alonso of Aston Martin took the ninth spot, earning two points for the championship, while Piastri finished tenth, collecting one point.
