Four more people arrested in connection with Frankfurt train station murder
The Frankfurt State Prosecutor’s Office announced on Tuesday morning that four more people have been arrested in connection with the murder of a 27-year-old Turkish citizen at Frankfurt’s main train station in August.
The arrests took place in Baden-Württemberg, the statement said. At the moment, more than 400 law enforcement officers are searching 13 locations of the suspects and their family members in Baden-Württemberg on behalf of the Frankfurt State Prosecutor’s Office, in an effort to find evidence.
On August 20, a 54-year-old main suspect, who is currently in custody, shot the 27-year-old victim with multiple shots on platform 9 of Frankfurt’s main train station. The motive for the crime is said to be a family feud.
The four suspects are allegedly connected to the crime in different ways. A 38-year-old German is accused of accompanying and supporting the shooter during the crime. Two 21- and 25-year-old Turks are said to have provided the shooter with information on the victim’s identity and whereabouts before the crime.
A 28-year-old Turk initially agreed to commit the crime at the train station, so the prosecutor’s office stated. The charges against the four suspects include accessory to murder, aiding and abetting murder, and conspiring to commit a crime. The four suspects are related to each other and the main suspect.
According to the investigators, the main suspect was not acting alone, and the four additional suspects were identified and arrested through intensive investigations, the prosecutor’s office said.
