For the kick-off of the 13th match day of the German Football Bundesliga, Union Berlin lost 2:3 to VfB Stuttgart.
In a first half with few highlights, the guests showed themselves to be more efficient and took the lead in the 37th minute. VfB goalkeeper Alexander Nübel did not look out for the header by Danilho Doekhi, however.
The way the first half had developed, all the more furious did the teams start the second half. In the 48th minute, Robert Skov scored for the guests on a corner kick to make it 2:0. But only three minutes later, Nick Woltemade reduced the lead and equalized a few minutes after that. In the 69th minute, Atakan Karazor took advantage of a severe mistake by Union goalkeeper Frederik Rönnow to take the lead. Despite being little impressed by this setback, the Köpenickers were unable to come back.
Next, Union will host the winless Bochum team at the Alte Försterei. VfB, on the other hand, will face the Swabian derby against 1. FC Heidenheim.
