President Joe Biden goes today to the border between the United States and Mexico, his first visit since taking office in the White House, about two years ago.

The visit to El Paso, Texas, comes as President Biden announced a new plan targeting the migrant crisis at the US border.

President Joe Biden’s visit to the US-Mexico border comes amid mounting pressure from Republican lawmakers on how to handle the deepening migrant crisis.

Before visiting El Paso, Texas, President Biden on Thursday announced a new plan aimed at slowing the flow of migrants. About 200,000 migrants enter the US southern border each month.

“I know it’s a complicated issue, and I don’t want to pretend this is an easy thing to deal with,” President Biden said of those trying to cross the border illegally and seek asylum from Cuba, Nicaragua, Haiti and Venezuela.

“Don’t steal at the border. Stay where you are and apply legally from there,” was President Biden’s call to migrants.
