Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky spoke on the phone with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
He thanked the German for the “powerful defense package” that will help Ukraine withstand the Russian invasion.
The Ukrainian leader also said they had discussed further defense cooperation, but gave no details.
In a joint statement with Washington, Berlin said it would provide Kiev with Marder infantry fighting vehicles and a Patriot air defense system.
France also announced this week that it was sending AMX-10 RC light combat vehicles.
Otherwise, Russia has launched an unjustifiable invasion of the Ukrainian state on February 24, causing casualties and material damage.
