Multiple Casualties and Fatalities Reported in Shooting at Monterey Park Celebration
According to sources within the law enforcement community, a shooting in Monterey Park, California, on Saturday evening resulted in multiple casualties, including fatalities. At this time, there is no information regarding the specific circumstances surrounding the incident or the number of people who were shot.
The owner of a restaurant in the vicinity of the shooting, Seung Won Choi, reported that three people entered his establishment and told him to lock the doors, stating that there was a man with a machine gun in the area. Seung Won Choi’s restaurant is located near the scene of the shooting. It was reported that the shooter had access to many rounds of ammunition and reloaded his weapon after depleting his supply.
The shooting occurred close to a Chinese Lunar New Year celebration earlier in the day, drawing tens of thousands of people. A resident reportedly heard approximately four to five gunshots and stated that police cruisers were en route to the scene.
Multiple hospitals in the surrounding area received injured patients transported to their facilities. Unfortunately, the suspect has not yet been captured.
