Zelensky: Why did Russia feel threatened by a hospital?

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky asked why Russia saw a maternity and children’s hospital as a “threat” in a video message posted on social media.

The video comes after a maternity hospital in Mariupol was bombed earlier in the day.

“Russian bombs fell on a maternity and children’s hospital in Mariupol. “A children’s hospital, a working maternity hospital, those buildings are destroyed!” said the president.

“Children’s hospital? Maternity? Why were they a threat to the Russian Federation? “What country is the Russian Federation that is afraid of children`s hospitals, afraid of maternity hospitals and is destroying them?” he asked.

Zelensky said at least 17 people were injured in the attack and authorities are continuing to search the rubble for other victims.

Russia claims Ukraine was setting up combat position in the hospital, something is not possible to verify.

Hours before the Mariupol maternity hospital was bombed, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova accused Ukraine of placing combat positions in the hospital.
