Zelensky and Guterres meet in Ukraine

Lviv

UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Lviv.

Writing on Telegram, Zelensky said after the talks that “Special attention was paid to the topic of Russia’s nuclear blackmail at the Zaporizhzhia NPP (nuclear power plant).

“This deliberate terror by the aggressor could have catastrophic global consequences for the entire world,” he said. He called on the UN to guarantee the security of the facility and help in its demilitarization and liberation.

Ukraine has accused Russia of shelling the plant in false flag attacks, while Moscow says Ukraine is shelling the facility.

The Ukrainian leader added that “We agreed to continue coordinating the implementation of the wheat initiative. We also discussed the possible directions of its development, the issue of illegal and forced deportation of Ukrainians, the release of our military personnel and doctors from captivity.”

Otherwise, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is expected to meet with Zelensky in Ukraine today.
