Von der Leyen: Russia is no longer a reliable partner

Von der Leyen: Russia is no longer a reliable partner.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has said that the oil embargo on Russia announced earlier this week would not be easy, but that the EU could not “transfer money to Russia in the long run. given its values ”.

She also said that the EU should reduce its dependence on Russian gas and that Russia is no longer a reliable partner.

EU representatives will meet again on Friday – in talks that are also expected to continue over the weekend – to negotiate a proposed package of EU sanctions against Russia.

Russian President Vladimir Putin’s war in Ukraine and the necessary sanctions taken by the EU were more than a stress test for our economy, von der Leyen added.

She said the EU country was “on the side of Ukraine” and “We want Ukraine to win this war.”

Asked what the criteria would be to decide whether Ukraine had won the war, she said it was up to Ukraine to decide how to negotiate with Russia to reach a ceasefire.
