Volvo is testing wireless charging.

A selection of taxis in Gothenburg, Sweden, operated by Cabonline, the largest taxi operator in the Nordic region of Europe, will be part of a project to test wireless charging for Volvo electric vehicles.

According to foreign media, operating a bit like wireless phone chargers, drivers who use wireless charging will simply have to park the car near to start charging and do not need to get out of it at all.

“The Gothenburg Green City Zone allows us to test exciting new technologies in a real-world environment and evaluate them over time for a wider presentation in the future,” said Mats Moberg, Head of Research and Development at Volvo Cars.

“Testing new charging technologies together with selected partners is a good way to evaluate alternative charging options for our future cars.”
