US deploys Patriot missile systems in Poland.

US Vice President Kamala Harris has said US missile systems have been deployed in Poland, which borders Ukraine, adding that they are prepared to defend “every inch” of NATO territory.

She was speaking from Warsaw after meeting with Polish President Andrzej Duda.

Ms. Harris added that the US will provide another $ 50 million in humanitarian aid to Ukraine.

The delivery of Patriot missiles to Poland comes shortly after Russia urged EU and NATO countries to stop arming the region with “defense aid, as it poses a threat to civilian aircraft.”

Patriot missiles are surface-to-air missiles used by the U.S. Armed Forces to target enemy missiles.

Russia has fired at least 670 missiles into Ukraine, a senior defense official said, and there are fears that an errant missile could land in Poland, which the Patriot missile system could defend against. The Poles already have at least two Patriot missile defense systems.
