Ursula von der Leyen on official visit to Kiev

Kiev

The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, is today visiting the capital of Ukraine – Kiev, where she met with President Volodymyr Zelensky and Prime Minister Denis Shmihalo.

During the meeting, Zelensky used the opportunity to decorate the head of the EC with the Yaroslav Mudrog medal, for his contribution to the prevention of the war in Ukraine.

“It is a great honor. I accept this medal on behalf of all EU citizens as a symbol of our strong relations”, von der Leyen wrote in her profile.

We remind you that Ukraine has been trying to enter the European Union since the beginning of the Russian occupation of this country, while months ago it officially received the status of a candidate country.

Meanwhile, Zelensky’s appearance today is the first since last night’s accident, where a car crashed into his escort while returning to the liberated city of Izyum.

In this accident, the driver of the car that crashed into the escort was injured, but not President Zelensky, who was immediately released from the hospital.
