Ukraine receives the first three German anti-aircraft systems.

The Ukrainian military has received its first three German Gepard anti-aircraft systems, the southern military command said today.

The air defense systems, which are operated by three-person crews, will be used to protect important infrastructure facilities.

They are among the Western military equipment offered to Ukraine to help it fend off Russian forces in the middle of the war.

Last month, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Western-supplied weapons were beginning to have an impact on the war in Ukraine and fighters were making “tangible attacks” on Russian logistics targets.

He said: “The Western artillery – the weapons we received from our partners – began to work very strongly.”

“Their accuracy is exactly as needed. Our defenders make very visible strikes on warehouses and other important logistics points of the invaders, and this significantly reduces the offensive potential of the Russian army.”

“The losses of the invaders will only increase every week, as well as the difficulty of supplying them.”
