Ukraine call Russian general “Mariupol executioner”.

Ukrainian officials have accused a senior Russian military leader of many of the most serious crimes in Ukraine’s war, including shelling a maternity hospital, and called him the “Executor of Mariupol.”

“Remember this person. This is Mikhail Mizintsev“, wrote on Twitter the head of the Ukrainian Center for Civil Liberties, Oleksandra Matvichuk, with a photo of the colonel-general who heads the Russian Center for Control of National Defense.

“He is leading the siege of Mariupol. “He ordered the bombing of the children’s hospital and the theater,” Matvicuk said.

Mizintsev has extensive experience in destroying cities in Syria, Matvichuk says, adding that he will make sure he is tried for war crimes in The Hague.

Former Ukrainian diplomat Oleksandr Sherba also calls Mizintsev “the executor of Mariupol.”

The Kremlin has never made public who gives orders for individual attacks, which they claim are not aimed at civilians.

However, it was confirmed that Mizintsev had a leading role in the operations in Mariupol when he personally promised that all Ukrainian soldiers who would hand over their weapons would be guaranteed a safe exit from Mariupol.
