UK announces new laws against Russian oligarchs.
UK has introduced new laws aimed at “preventing Russian oligarchs from accessing the UK’s aviation and naval technical services”.
A statement from the Foreign Ministry added that this would “prohibit the maintenance of aircraft or ships belonging to sanctioned Russian oligarchs or their businesses”.
They also confirmed that sanctions will be tightened against Russian businessmen Eugene Schwidler and Oleg Tinkov.
British Secretary of State Liz Truss said: “There is no doubt that Vladimir Putin and his elite have been surprised by the strength of our sanctions.”
“We will continue to increase the pressure as long as Russian troops are in Ukraine, targeting not only the oligarchs’ businesses, but also their wealth and international lifestyle.”
“Tough sanctions will help Ukraine achieve the best possible peace solution and ultimately ensure that Putin’s invasion fails. “This is our focus.”
