The US president will hold talks with his Chinese counterpart.

US President Joe Biden will hold talks with Chinese counterpart Xi Jingping on Friday to discuss Russia’s war in Ukraine and other issues of common concern, the White House has said.

The call will take place at a time when US officials warned China, which signaled that it could offer economic and financial support to Russia, due to the war in Ukraine.

On the other hand, National Security Adviser Jake Sullivian met with his Chinese counterpart Yang Jiechi, with whom they discussed for a full seven hours – where he presented the positions of the United States regarding the Russian occupation of Ukraine.

A senior US official familiar with the case said the Chinese had already “agreed to help Russia financially and economically” before the meeting in Rome.

But it remains to be seen whether the Chinese will go further with the promises made to Russia.
